A criminal defense lawyer for more than 20 years, Mr. McQuat has extensive experience representing clients charged with felonies and misdemeanors in state and federal district courts. A former prosecutor, he has worked on both sides of the Criminal Litigation Bar, knowing all the tricks of the trade now used on either side of the line.

A graduate of Syracuse University College of Law, he was appointed Assistant District Attorney in Syracuse, NY, where he served for sixteen years, rising to Senior Attorney, establishing an unprecedented “win-rate” of more than 90 percent.

Besides his successful trial work, Mr. McQuat’s practice includes appeals. Prior to joining the Blanch Law Firm, he worked in the Criminal Appeals Bureau of the Legal Aid Society, defending the rights of indigents before the New York State Appellate Division. Additionally, as an Assistant District Attorney, he argued more than 100 appeals as supervisor of his county’s Appeals Unit.
